Can Copilot make videos?
It depends which Copilot. Microsoft has several, and they make very different videos: Bing Video Creator turns a prompt into an 8-second clip in the Bing mobile app; Copilot in Clipchamp, for work accounts, writes a script, adds an AI voiceover and cuts stock footage to it without generating any footage; and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app can create a video through Clipchamp when your organization allows it. None of them makes a researched, narrated long-form YouTube video with footage matched to every line. For that, a Copilot Studio agent can call Cliptude as an MCP server, and Cliptude makes a 16:9 video from 6 minutes to an hour long.
Which Copilot makes which video
| Copilot | What it makes | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|
| Bing Video Creator | An 8-second clip from a prompt, in 9:16 or 16:9; 10 free fast creations, then slower standard ones | Anyone with the Bing mobile app; video is mobile-only |
| Copilot in Clipchamp | A video compiled from stock footage, with an AI script and text-to-speech narration; "no generation of pixels, images, or video clips" | Commercial (Entra ID) accounts with a Microsoft 365 plan and Copilot Chat |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot app (Create) | A video from your description and settings, made with Clipchamp | Work accounts where Clipchamp is enabled for the organization |
| Copilot Studio | No video itself, but agents you build can call an MCP server such as Cliptude | Organizations building agents in Copilot Studio |

Not the same thing: Video Copilot
Search "copilot video" and many results are about Video Copilot, the maker of After Effects plugins and tutorials such as Element 3D and Saber. It has nothing to do with Microsoft Copilot. If you want plugins for compositing in After Effects, that is what you are looking for; if you want an AI assistant to make a video, read on.
What Copilot cannot do for a YouTube video
- Generate more than a short clip: Bing Video Creator stops at 8 seconds.
- Generate footage for a longer video: Clipchamp Copilot compiles stock footage, and its help page says no footage is generated.
- Make a long documentary or Top 10 with maps, charts and sourced footage of real places, people and events.

How a Copilot Studio agent can make a full YouTube video
Copilot Studio can connect an existing MCP server to an agent you build, over the Streamable HTTP transport, which is what Cliptude's server uses. Add Cliptude and the agent can drive it: write or take the narration, pick a Cliptude template, show the settings and the credit price, and start the job. Cliptude records the voiceover, finds footage and pictures for every line, adds maps, charts, captions and music, and renders a 16:9 MP4.
If your team is not building agents, the same Cliptude server works from Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Cursor and other MCP clients, or straight from the Cliptude wizard.

From a Copilot Studio agent to a finished YouTube video
- In Copilot Studio, open your agent and connect an existing MCP server with the Cliptude server URL, following Microsoft's guide.
- Complete the sign-in Copilot Studio asks for with the Cliptude account whose credits the agent should use.
- Ask the agent to write the narration for your topic, or give it your own script, and approve it.
- Ask it to make the video with one of your Cliptude templates. It shows the settings and the credit price first.
- The agent follows the job and returns the link to the finished MP4.

Limits to know first
- Cliptude videos run from 6 minutes to an hour, in 16:9 for YouTube. Cliptude does not make Shorts or Reels.
- The consumer Copilot app lists only built-in connectors such as OneDrive and Outlook, so a custom MCP server needs Copilot Studio.
- Cliptude has no free plan and no free credits.
