Answer

Can Gemini make videos?

Yes, short ones. The Gemini app generates 10-second video clips with native audio, and since Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash replaced Veo 3.1 in the app, that is the model behind them. You need a Google AI plan on a personal account, and the feature is not available to users under 18. Gemini can also watch video: it reads uploads of up to 5 minutes in total, or an hour on AI Pro and Ultra. What it does not make is a narrated long-form YouTube video. For that, connect Cliptude as a custom app and Gemini directs a 16:9 video from 6 minutes to an hour long while Cliptude voices it, sources footage for every line and renders the MP4.

Gemini Omni, Veo and Flow in 2026

Google moved its video generation from Veo to Gemini Omni this year. In the Gemini app, Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash replaced Veo 3.1. In the Gemini API, the Veo 3.1 preview models were shut down on 22 October 2026, and Google points developers to gemini-omni-1.1-flash instead.

Flow, Google's filmmaking tool, is where clips become a sequence: its Scenebuilder arranges, trims and previews clips and downloads the result. Its extend feature currently works only on Veo-generated clips. That makes Flow a way to cut a short film from generated shots, but the script, the voiceover and the timing of every shot to it are still your work.

Why ten-second clips are not a YouTube video

A ten-minute documentary is sixty 10-second clips, each generated separately. Gemini Omni can give each one sound, but a YouTube video needs one narrator reading one script, footage that matches each sentence, maps and charts where the script gives a place or a number, music under it all and captions. Generated clips are good B-roll inside a video like that; they are not the video.

How Gemini can direct a full YouTube video

The Gemini app can connect custom apps by their MCP URL, and Gemini CLI connects MCP servers from the terminal. Add Cliptude either way and Gemini can drive it from a chat: it researches and writes the narration, picks or creates a Cliptude template, shows you the settings and the credit price, and starts the job. Cliptude records the voiceover, finds footage and pictures for every line, adds maps, charts, captions and music, and renders a 16:9 MP4.

Gemini's own strengths still help: it can watch a reference video you upload and describe its pacing, or read a long source document before it writes the script.

From a Gemini chat to a finished YouTube video

  1. On gemini.google.com on a computer, open Settings, then Connected Apps, and add Cliptude as a custom app by its MCP URL.
  2. Sign in with your Cliptude Google account.
  3. Ask Gemini to research your topic and write the narration, and read it before you approve it.
  4. Ask it to make the video with one of your Cliptude templates. It shows you the settings and the credit price first.
  5. Gemini follows the job and gives you the link to the finished MP4.
